Mrs. Shar’s Famous Cookies began in 2021, but the story behind it started long before that in my grandmother’s and mother’s kitchen. Some of my happiest memories were made there, surrounded by love, laughter, and food that felt like it was cooked from the soul. Those moments taught me that food is not just about eating it is about creating comfort, connection, and joy. I also give credit to my father, who taught me how to cook so many different foods, and my favorite cousin “Neek,” who showed me how to cook eggs when I was just 9 years old (even though she was only 8 at the time). I learned a lot about seasoning from her as well. As a supervisor in the food industry, Neek also shared some of her baking knowledge with me. Those early experiences shaped my love for food and the way I see cooking today. My husband also played a big role in me starting Mrs. Shar’s Cookies because he encouraged me to share my baking with the world. When I said to him, “But who would buy them?” he simply replied, “I would.” I thought to myself that he would not count because he is my husband and is forced to eat my food anyway. When I called my longtime college friend and school director Frances and told her I was thinking about starting a cookie business, she was thrilled and ready to place her first order on the spot. That moment really made me realize this could be something real. With my husband’s belief in me, along with encouragement from my friends and family, I decided to walk away from the office and corporate world and step out here among the big cookie companies and open for business.

For me, that feeling is deeply tied to nostalgia like Sunday dinners at my grandmother’s house, where all my cousins, aunts, uncles, and brothers would gather around the table. Those big family meals created a sense of home, belonging, and happiness that I carry with me into everything I bake today. My goal is to recreate that same feeling for every customer, whether it is home, a happy place, or a moment of comfort they did not know they needed.

Today, I bring that same love into my own kitchen alongside my two daughters. One is an artist who brings creativity and imagination into everything she touches, and the other is a natural cook who is happiest when she is baking or cooking something delicious. Together, they inspire me to blend art, flavor, and tradition into something truly special.

Before starting this business, I worked in corporate America where I managed large projects, led teams, and earned my MBA. I was used to structure, deadlines, and big responsibilities. But despite all of that, nothing ever brought me more happiness or peace than being in my kitchen creating something new from scratch. There is something deeply fulfilling about developing a new cookie flavor, testing ideas, and seeing repeat customers return for something I created with my own hands. That connection means everything to me.

That is how Mrs. Shar’s Famous Cookies came to life.

I consider myself a soul food baker. Everything I make is meant to go beyond taste. It is meant to touch the soul. I want my sweetness to bring comfort, joy, and that nostalgic feeling of home in every bite.

​

We are best known for our big, over-the-top stuffed cookies, especially our Red Velvet filled with sweet cream cheese, our Biscoff cream cheese cookie, and our classic chocolate chip. I always say we make cookies the “Big Girl Way” extra chocolate, extra drizzle, just extra everything because you deserve to fully enjoy every bite. But what makes us truly special is that these cookies are not just mine. They are yours too. I love giving customers the ability to customize and make each order their own, whether that means adding extra chocolate chips, piling on toppings, or creating something that feels personal to them.

I do not believe in baking like a machine or producing without heart. I believe in baking with love, intention, and care while also listening to my customers and making adjustments to meet their needs. Many of my customers do not have the time, skill, or ability to bake at home, but still want that same warmth and sweetness. My goal is to bring that experience to them through every cookie that leaves my kitchen.

At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to bring people the same feeling I grew up with, the comfort of home, the joy of togetherness, and the nostalgia of something made with love, and share that warmth with families everywhere.
